Fighting for a university that grows with its students! not one that rushes them out the door.
As a third-year PPLE student, I have gained extensive experience with the challenges our program faces. I actively connect with students from all majors and organizations within PPLE and enjoy collaboration and building a strong, supportive network. Alongside my degree, I work part-time and volunteer with None of Your Business, an NGO focused on digital rights and data protection. I understand how challenging it can be to navigate a demanding program. PPLE students are selected for their motivation, but the curriculum often lacks the flexibility to support our broader interests and responsibilities. If elected, I will push for better support for working students, more flexibility in course planning, and guaranteed access to mental health resources
I’m running with the Activisten Partij because I believe student voices should be heard; not only in the council, but in collective action and collaboration. From the anti-canteen protest to campaigns for climate justice and fairer policies, students have shown they can make a real difference.
At the same time, the Dutch government is cutting university budgets and targeting English-taught programs like PPLE. If we don’t take action, the Dutch academic landscape will suffer: less access, less diversity, and fewer opportunities for critical thinking. This is why activism is more crucial than ever. Real change doesn’t happen behind closed doors, it starts with students speaking up and taking action.

Voor een universiteit waar studenten kunnen groeien — niet alleen zo snel mogelijk moeten afstuderen.
Als derdejaars PPLE-student heb ik veel ervaring opgedaan met de uitdagingen binnen onze opleiding. Ik sta in contact met studenten uit alle richtingen binnen PPLE en vind het belangrijk om samen te werken en een sterke, ondersteunende gemeenschap op te bouwen. Naast mijn studie werk ik parttime en doe ik vrijwilligerswerk bij None of Your Business, een NGO die zich inzet voor digitale rechten en gegevensbescherming. Ik weet daarom ook hoe lastig het kan zijn om je weg te vinden in een veeleisend programma. PPLE selecteert studenten op motivatie, maar biedt vaak te weinig ruimte om bredere interesses en verantwoordelijkheden te combineren.
Ik stel mij verkiesbaar namens de Activisten Partij omdat ik geloof dat studenten gehoord moeten worden; niet alleen in de raad, maar ook via samenwerking en collectieve actie. Van de antikantine-protesten tot campagnes voor klimaatrechtvaardigheid en eerlijk beleid: studenten hebben laten zien dat ze verandering kunnen waarmaken
Tegelijkertijd bezuinigt Nederland fors op het hoger onderwijs en worden Engelstalige opleidingen zoals PPLE in gevaar gebracht. Als we geen actie ondernemen, zal het academische landschap verschralen: minder toegankelijkheid, minder diversiteit en minder ruimte voor kritisch denken. Daarom is activisme juist nu belangrijk. Echte verandering begint niet achter gesloten deuren, maar bij studenten die zich uitspreken en in beweging komen.
