Decolonize, Decarbonize, Democratize.

I am a second year psychology student here at the UvA. I have relevant experience in highschool as part of the school board and as a member of two clubs that dealt with topics such as discrimination and sustainability respectively.

I am running for student council because I believe in real, alive and proactive student democracy, which I want to work towards here at UvA. Students shouldn’t be treated as passive consumers of education. We are the heart of our university and should be active contributors to its direction as we are directly affected by these decisions. I want to achieve this by building more direct and transparent communication channels between students and the university administration. There is a clear need for easier and more accessible ways for students to participate in shaping policies – beyond just those that are already involved in student politics.

A truly democratic university also means one where free expression, critical voices, and open dialogue are protected and encouraged. But that can only happen if student voices are actually taken seriously and acted on.

It is in our hands – Let’s make this university a more democratic and transparent one!
